It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Rensselaer Muslim Students Association! The MSA is RPI's primary authority on campus-wide Islamic affairs. Our organization is based in Troy, New York, and is open to all student and faculty members of the RPI community, regardless of race, color, or creed. We currently have a diverse group more than thirty members, who hail from a diverse spectrum of backgrounds across the world.

The purpose of this site is to provide information about our organization and its activities, and to provide educational resources, both for Muslims and non-Muslims, offering information on a comprehensive range of topics concerning Islam and Islamic affairs. We invite you to use this site, participate actively in its interactive sections by signing up, and contact us should you have any concerns or suggestions.

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani
 
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah:

This Friday October 23, 2009 in DCC 318, yea, thats this Friday there will be guest speaker talking on The Way of Success: 7 Principles of Excellence from the Qur'an and Sunna. The speaker is, drumroll, dadadaa is Shaykh Faraz Rabbani. Hopefully you can make it. His bio is below courtesy of Wikipedia.

Faraz Rabbani was born in Karachi, Pakistan and raised in Toronto, Canada. He entered the University of Toronto with a full scholarship and completed his Bachelor's in Economics & Commerce in May 1997. While in Canada, Shaykh Faraz was involved with various organizations and projects, including founding and running the monthly The Muslim Voice and acting as the Vice-President of the University of Toronto Muslim Students' Association from 1994-1996. While in Toronto, he was involved in various Islamic study circles and educational programs, including those of Shaykh Ahmad Talal al-Ahdab, Shaykh Faisal Abd al-Razzaq, and Shaykh Muhammad Zahid Abu Ghudda.

After graduation, Shaykh Faraz traveled with his family to Damascus, Syria, to formally seek Islamic knowledge. In Damascus, he studied Arabic, Aqidah (Islamic creed), Mantiq (Islamic Logic), Hanafi Fiqh, Shafi'I Fiqh, Usul al-fiqh, and Hadith with a number of scholars including Shaykh Haytham Idilbi, Shaykh Abd al-Rahman Kharsa, Shaykh Abd al-Haleem Abu Sha`r, Shaykh Umar al-Sabbagh, Shaykh Jihad Brown, Shaykh Mu'min al-Annan, Shaykh Hassan al-Hindi, Sayyidi Shaykh Adib Kallas, Shaykh Muhammad Jumuah, Sh. Abd al-Razzaq al-Halabi, Shaykh Haytham, Shaykh Abd al-Haleem Abu Sha`r, and Ustadh Mahmud al-Bayruti. He is also the student (Murid) of Shaykh Nuh Ha Mim Keller.

Weekly Halaqas
As usual, there will be weekly halaqas in the masjid every weekend, inshaAllah. Below are the details:

Friday Halaqah : 7.30 pm onwards. Isha’ will be performed after Halaqah

Sunday Halaqah: 11:30am - 2pm. Dhur will be performed after Halaqah

On Fridays it is Tafseer and on Sundays the topic is "Seerah of the Prophet"
